GoPro Battery Pack

Following my fly fishing trip, I realized that my previous battery pack setup was little sketchy... so I needed to make something a little more permanent with my fishing and camping trips coming up. Working out of my apartment, I don't have access to a ton of materials/tools outside of what I can 3D model and print for projects like this. I'd love to move towards some woodworking and make higher quality components, but for now plastic works. I took some measurements of the converter, battery clip, and USB ports to model up a box that would fit all of the components and locate holes for heat set threaded inserts to screw the components in place. The images in the header and below are the resulting product.

I added some ventilation holes on the lid for the heat sink, but otherwise it really just is a box with some parts screwed into it. I didn't need anything fancy for this, just something functional.

This should keep the setup a little more compact and practical than the last one so I can power all of my camera/camping needs while out in the wilderness! I'm thinking I might get fancy and even get a USB powered fan too... I'll think some more on that. Anyway, I've got more projects that I've been working on that I haven't gotten a chance to post yet so expect more soon.

The following image gives a look at the internals of the battery pack. I had to experiment with some soldering this time to disconnect the converter from the battery clip, remove excess wire, and have more permanent connections. I'd say it went pretty well!
