With the ice fishing season wrapping up, it's time for me to move on to my next fishing focus: fly fishing. I recently inherited a fly fishing rod and want to give it a shot. Along with this, I want to better capture my activities and invested in a GoPro video camera. The kit I bought used (pictured below) did not come with any spare batteries and would only be able to record for about 2 hours on a full charge. I considered buying spare batteries, but then I remembered I just made this whole system for charging my fish finder off of DeWalt batteries and that could absolutely be used for this as well.

I removed all of the electronic components (20V to 5V step down converter, terminal block, and USB-A charging port) and attached them to an L-shaped 3D printed bracket. It is not the most pretty contraption but I'm leaving this weekend so I was on a time crunch. Going forward I'll likely try to make it more aesthetically pleasing, but for now this works--see the following pictures.

With this contraption, and two 20V 5Ah batteries, I'll have more than enough battery life to charge the GoPro for the weekend. If all goes well I can share some fly fishing content to share once I'm back. Wish me luck!
